There are an increasing number of anti-social behaviors in recent years; People generally believe that the society is to blame. What do you think the causes are and who is responsible for this?

Throughout much of the world, rapid proliferation of antisocial behaviors seems to be an increasingly widespread problem. The public cry for more prisons and tougher sentences outweighs prevention and treatment of criminal acts. However, it is more urgent to identify the underlying root causes, rather than to deal with the symptoms through punishment measures
The most common factor responsible for crimes is poverty. People who cannot afford to make their own ends meet are very likely to commit crimes as a last resort. It goes without saying that poor and unemployed individuals have much higher likelihood of committing crimes. Exposure to violence is another factor that contributes to crimes, especially youth crimes. Without proper parental guide, some young adults get deeply addicted to the Internet and become heavy net users. Some of them are contaminated by violence and pornography online, which is closely linked to their aggressive behaviors.
Crime prevention requires the joint efforts from the entire society. The government should popularize education and create more jobs. The availability of education and job opportunities would allow citizens to secure employment and earn regular income, thereby reducing the crime rate to a minimum. To tackle youth crime, parents should play more supportive and loving roles, attaching more importance to their children’s emotional needs and limiting their access to unfavorable contents on the Internet by creating more interesting after-school entertainment
To sum up, this unpleasant phenomenon can be attributed to several factors, including poverty and lack of parental supervision. The government should take more effective measures to raise living standards of those economically impoverished individuals and parents should give correct and immediate instruction to young adults.
