老外眼里的*——奇葩事大盘点，这都不是事儿！

 对外国人来说，中国是一个旅游胜地，但有些事情也令这些老外难以置信。常州沃尔得跟大家一起来听听老外在中国遇到的新鲜事。

1. So many people!

人太多！

“I think it was the sheer number ofpeople that got me. People crammed into subway cars, cars lined up as far as theeye could see, the sidewalks so filled that you had to walk on the street。”

“看到中国那么多的人时，我惊呆了。地铁车厢被塞得满满当当，人数之多，一眼望不到头；人行道上也全都是人，根本无法走动。”

2. Expansion rate

城市以惊人的速度增长

“Cities are growing at an alarmingpace. The amount of construction going on everywhere is amazing. With a goodview of the town, I could see half a dozen cranes. InAmerica, a skyscrapermay be built and it would take several years. InChina, you literally see half adozen cranes right next to each other building 10skyscrapers at the same timeto be completed in a few months. Leaving and coming back in a couple of yearsmeans entire cities have sprung up that weren't there before。”

“在中国，城市正在以惊人的速度增长。各地正在进行中的工程数量是惊人的。在一个小镇，我可以看到六个起重机。在美国，建设一栋摩天大楼需要数年，而在中国，你真的可以看到一栋建筑旁围绕着六个起重机，而几个月后十栋摩天大楼将拔地而起。离开几年后再回来意味着这座城市可能不再是以前你熟悉的那个城市了，许多新鲜事物如雨后春笋般涌现。”

3. Not that many bicycles anymore

自行车已经out 了

With more people buying cars and electricbicycles, only 18 percent of Chinese people are riding bicycles today,comparedwith 63 percent of commuters in 1986.

随着越来越多的中国人购买私家车和电动车，自行车似乎正逐渐退出历史舞台。据统计，目前仅有18%的中国人还选择自行车出行，而在1986年这一比例达到了63%。

“I'm amazed at how much can fit on atiny vehicle. Bundles of plastic bottles about a yard wide and tall are stuckon the back of a bike. An entire family fit on a moped.A little tractor carrieda pile of sticks at least six feet tall, and several people were perched on top。”

“我很惊讶一辆小型车竟可以装这么多。自行车座后塞了一大捆塑料瓶，全家人都挤在一辆电动车上，拖拉机上装了一堆木棍，有七尺高，车上还坐了7个人。”

6. Personal space

私人空间

“They appear not to have any concept ofpersonal space. While taking a leak in a packed bathroom at the Forbidden City,I could actually feel the guy behind me, as he stood their waiting。”

“他们似乎没有任何私人空间的概念。当我在游览故宫期间去洗手间上厕所时，我几乎可以感觉到那个站在我身后排队的家伙。”

7. Different food animals

各种各样以动物为原料的食物

Fried scorpions?No problem.Silkworms?Make sure the ones your vendor is selling are still wiggling, so you knowthey're fresh. Look over there, it's a roasted whole sparrow on a stick,headincluded. And of course dog meat is readily available at restaurants。

炸蝎子？没问题。蚕？如果你看老板那儿卖的还在动，那你可以确定你买到新鲜的了。别处还有卖烤麻雀的，当然，狗肉在饭店也是可以吃到的。

8. Everyone is generally friendly

每个人都很友好

“From the very first visit, I've consistentlybeen surprised by the friendliness and eagerness to help of the vast majorityof people I've interacted with, especially in second-tier and smaller citiesbut also in Beijing and Shanghai。”
