雅思考试大作文的中心主题

 　雅思大作文的离题情况在考生中是屡见不鲜的。朗阁雅思培训的专家们注意到了这个问题，并且希望通过一些行之有效的方法来帮助考生们克服这一困难。本文中，我们从Writing Task 2写作要求的核心 -- 一个中心的要求开始，逐渐说明如何写好雅思议论文的中心主题。

　　一、Writing Task2评分点理解误区

　　首先，我们可以先从雅思考试Writing Task 2的写作要求、测试的能力和评分标准三项内容分别作解释，考生在考试中应该理解的内容有哪些呢？

　　In Writing Task 2, you will be given a discussion topic. The question will either present you with an opinion, an argument or a problem. You have to discuss all parts of the question with two or three main points and provide some supporting details for each point.

　　You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

　　You have to write at least 250 words. You are advised to spend 40 minutes on this task.

　　事实上，有很多同学并没有真正理解题目的要求。比如说，对于“You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.”这句话，大家是怎么理解的呢？朗阁海外考试研究中心的专家们发现实际上要求中的这句话给我们许多考生造成了误解，考生们在考场上尽全力地想举出相关的例子来证明，往往结果是出现很多不恰当的句子，而后生硬地把“自己”加到其中。笔者在这里为大家解释清楚这个要求真正所要表达的意思（disabuse your misunderstanding）：“using your own experience”并不是一定要大家提供自己的切身经历经验，可以是你所知道的supporting facts、examples等等。大家只需要写出和中心主旨相关的支持内容就可以，而不一定非要加入“I have experienced...”或者“In my experience of...”这样的句子来硬撑起自己的观点。

　　二、Writing Task 2测试的能力

　　This task tests your ability to do one or more of the following five points:

　　discuss a problem and present a solution 讨论一个问题，并给出解决的方案。

　　present and justify opinions 提出观点，加以证明。

　　compare and contrast evidence or opinions 对比事实或者对不同的观点进行比较。

　　argue a case 论述（证）一个事实。

　　evaluate and challenge ideas, using evidence and arguments 对给出的不同观点作出评价。

　　这一部分无论以什么形式和语言技巧来表达呈现，都主要考查考生对题目的理解和有理有据地论述思想和观点的能力。我们要达到的效果，就是要convince读者，或者更确切地说是convince雅思考官，你的观点是坚强而有说服力的！

　　三、评分标准

　　考官对作文的评分标准主要着眼于考生对“观点、行文和词汇与句式”的具体表现。接下来将在下文具体解释。考官的评判标准将用英文来呈现，以便大家更好了解考官的意图。备考生应认真理解体会，把握核心思想。

　　Your performance in Task 2 will be assessed on the criteria below: (band 9 for candidates who demonstrate the following points)

　　1. Being able to present a clear, logical, and well-supported argument.

　　2. Being able to support your argument with personal experience and reasons.

　　3. Being able to focus on all aspects of the question and not include anything irrelevant.

　　在这里需要强调的是：现在的雅思作文考试，不单单要考查考生是否给出了观点，还要看考生的观点是不是能在原文提供的两种观点之上再有所延伸和拓展。所以，大家尽可能给出一种不是简单认同原文其中一种的观点。当然，对题目提及的观点内容一定要加以分析，并提出论据，论证为什么你认为你的观点更有说服力。

　　四、关于中心主题

　　我们强调议论文要中心突出，就是指一篇好的雅思议论文，只能论述一个中心、一个主题，不能有和主题不相关的内容，给出的supporting examples and facts也丝毫不能脱离你所论述的中心主旨（thesis）。关于中心主旨要唯一（one thesis），大家如果翻看专业书籍，都会有详细的讲解，甚至有整本关于这个内容的书。但不建议大家先翻看理论，再回到雅思议论文的写作训练中来，那样就走了弯路。我们在写雅思议论文的时候，如果没有给出一个鲜明的主题，即使文采再好，也得不了高分。下面的例子分析会给大家一个明确的认识。

　　文章的中心主旨一般需要一句全文主题句来鲜明地总结和阐述。看下面这段例子，这是一段标准的雅思Writing Task 2的开始段：

　　Since the dawn of 21st century, science has become an increasingly specialized and compartmentalized subject. Some people propose that science will not provide amateurs any room to stay. Perhaps surprisingly, however, amateurs are still important.

　　上面这段话是非常常见的雅思议论文的开始段落，原题题干可以这样来问：

　　Since the beginning of this century, amateurs have been playing fewer and fewer roles in scientific areas. Some people think that science will not need amateurs any more. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

　　从示范的首段大家可以看出，最后一句Perhaps surprisingly, however, amateurs are still important. 给出了全文的中心主旨，那就是“业余爱好者在科学这个领域中仍然重要”。在这一部分我们主要体会一下“一心一意”这个原则。在“观点鲜明”这一要求里面，第三点“Being able to focus on the topic and not include anything irrelevant”所要求的核心就是这个意思。
