托福口语备考剖析之 Task 1 Independent description

新托福口语考试的第一部分被命名为Independent description, 这就意味着考生在本道题里的任务是在没有阅读或听力作为背景知识的情况下进行独立描述。考题中心词可能是人物、地点、物品和事件中的任意一种，考生会得到15秒准备时间和45秒的陈述时间。这个部分对于广大考生来说，最大的备考的几点难度在于：

Ø  题库范围特别大，不存在逐题准备的可能性。

Ø  15秒的准备时间极短，很难进行完整的思路整理。

Ø  45秒的陈述时间对于不熟悉的话题来说，比较难控制。

Ø  屏幕上的倒数计时器对于考生是个很大的心理震慑。

下面朗阁海外考试研究中心的专家将按照人、地、事、物四种类型分别提供一些策略供广大考生备考。

一、   人物类

我们拿例题来分析：Describe the person you admire most. Explain why you admire this person. Include details and examples to support your response. 拿到一个题目后，脑海中应该马上浮现出最基本的答题框架：topic sentence + supporting ideas。 topic sentence最简单的做法就是把原题做paraphrase, 只要不完全照抄原题就好。所以，笔记任务就落在整合supporting ideas的思路上。对于考试极短的准备时间来说，外貌特征等细节描述没有品质描述容易，所以，考试可以试试在15秒时间内整合几个形容词引导思路，如：humorous、open-minded、easy-going、warm-hearted、sociable、high-driven、visionary、knowledgeable、he’s a very open-minded person and he’s always flexible to changes。同时我们还可以用举例的方法来进行扩展，如He’s a high-driven guy and he worked so hard on his TOEFL test, study almost 24/7.

二、   地点类

其实地点题是托福口语规律性最强的考题，按照不同的考题要求，我们可以简单地把地点整合为四种：大地点、中地点、私人场所和公共场所，然后，直接锁定需要准备的四个地方：a country、a city、a room、a library。

以大地点为例，介绍一个，比如Britain。我们可以从几个角度分析：

l  time-honored history and splendid culture，这之后可以给出一些历史景点来证明观点，比如Elizabeth Tower和Big Ben。

l  abundant English breakfast and delicate refreshments in the afternoon

l  royal family & royal parade

l  prestigious universities and prominent professors

这些信息整合起来可以应对类似于Describe a place you’ve never been to but want to visit someday. Include details and examples to support your response.

三、   事件题

What is the most memorable event you experienced in your life? Explain why it is memorable. 类似的事件题的关键形容词可以换为：embarrassing、challenging、disappointing、hard等等。较难的题可以出成：Describe a time when you needed help from others, how he or she helped you and what was the result? Please include details and examples to support your answer. 这类题目跟个人亲身经历有关，考场上容易一时没有思路，也很难去杜撰，所以应在考前多去回忆童年往事，同时尝试着用英文表达出来。假如实再无法勾起美好的回忆，那就去杜撰吧，注意是考前练习时杜撰，千万别到了考场上再去杜撰。

四、   物品题

Choose an object you like and explain why it is of special value to you. Please include specific examples and details in your explanation. 这道题属于物品题，备考难度在于出题范围格外广，可能会出成：a type of pet、a kind of game、your important gift。考生可以尝试从两个角度去答题：对物品本身的简单描述+物品的来源或是重要意义，如描述宠物可以说：coz he keeps me company、when I was upset, he was always by my side。又如描述礼物可以说： The PSP was a gift from my Grandpa, it was a credit to my hard work on the SAT test.
