A trip to Disneyland!

That was the happy reward that my dad gave me when I consistently got excellent grades in all my subjects for the whole school year.

I was seven years old then and I had just finished my challenging days in first grade.

My parents went with me to school to pick up my report card from my class adviser.

At that time, I was not yet conscious of grades so I just went to school with them for just the sake of doing the procedure.

I did not understand why my parents were so happy upon seeing my card.

It was only at that very moment that I realized how important my school performance was to them.

They knew it was my dream to be able to see Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofey, Pluto, Cinderella and Snow White.

And because I made them so happy with my school grades, my parents also wanted to make me happy by rewarding me with something they know that I really like.

I could still remember this event because it was my first time to experience having my dream come true.

For a seven year old girl, visiting Disneyland and being able to see your favorite Disney characters is very much a big deal.

I was hopping up and down in excitement after my dad told me that we would be going to Disneyland for the summer.

My dad gave me the announcement as soon as we went home.

I was so happy that I even volunteered to help our helpers at home to do their household chores.

From then on, I tried my best to make my parents happy not only for the rewards that I would be getting but the mere fact that they are happy makes me happy too.
